Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters Review & Giveaway!

A few weeks ago, MyBlogSpark sent me a Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters "Snack Pack" prize pack that included all four (4) varieties of the Granola Nut Clusters along with a sling backpack, stainless steel water bottle, flashlight and binoculars! My personal favorite flavor would have to be the Honey Roasted Peanut. Anything peanut/peanut buttery has my vote! But honestly... they really were all delicious!

Today I made my stops at CVS, Walgreens, and Stop & Shop, here is how I did!

CVS

Transaction 1

• 4 Sauve Hair Products (Shampoo & Conditioner + (2) 2 in 1): $8.00

I used 2 $1.00 Coupons and then received $2.00 in ECB, so final cost was $6.00 OOP

Transaction 2

• (1) Hershey Kisses: 2/$5.00
• (1) Colgate Total Toothpaste: $2.99 + $2.00 ECB
• (2) Jack Links Chicken Nuggets: $5.99 + bogo

I used 3 coupons ($1.oo off hershey kisses, $1.00 off Colgate, FREE jack links), I also used the $2.00 ECB from Transaction 1. OOP for this transaction is $2.29!

Transaction 3

• 4 Lean Cuisines: 2/$5.00

I used 1 coupon for $2.00 off 3 lean cuisines and I used the $2.00 ECB from Transaction 2. My OOP for this transaction was $6.01.

All in all I spent about $14.3o OOP and saved about $33.49 between sales, coupons, and ECB at CVS!

Walgreens

Transaction 1

• 2 Irish Spring 8-pack Soap Bars: 2/$8.00 +$4.00 RR
• 3 Kleenex tissues: $0.89 each

I used a coupon for $0.50 off 3 kleenex and I used a Walgreens coupon for $3.00 off $10.o0. My OOP for this transaction was $7.71.

I used another Walgreens Coupon for $3.00 off $10.00 and I used the $4.00 RR from transaction one. My OOP this time was about $6.00.

My total Walgreens Total was about $14.00 OOP and I saved about $12.00 or so

My total this week at Stop & Shop Before Savings was $68.64

My total S&S card savings was $14.94

My total Coupon Savings was $9.84

My gift card total was $10.00 (from MyBlogSpark & General Mills)

My total savings was about $34.78 or 50%!

Please Excuse My Disappearance

What a slacker I am! I know, I know! I said I would be posting again...and then I disappeared! I unfortunately had some car trouble this past week and ended up spending all of my extra energy on focusing on that! Also, I have been working on trying to line up a few extra "side" jobs, so please bear with me. I may break a promise or two here depending on my schedule. Well anyways, let's get back to the blogging.....

CVS

I went to CVS this afternoon after work and picked up a 4 pack of Sharpie Highlighters. I used a $1 off coupon (online coupon-I apologize, I do not recall where I found it!) and the product was on sale for $0.99. So I paid tax only out of pocket for a grand total of $0.07 or 100% savings!

That way my big purchase for the day. Nothing else really caught my eye in this weeks flyer, but who knows, I may stop back in. I do still have a $0.99 ECB that I have yet to use!

Stop & Shop

We actually skipped the food shopping this past week. We had plenty at home to use up and our work schedules have been a bit nutty lately so we haven't been cooking as much. We do plan on doing a Stop & Shop grocery shop later this week, I'm thinking we will last till at least Thursday. I will let you know how I do when I do! Wild Wednesday: Weekly Stop & Shop Grocery Shop

This afternoon when I got out of work we went grocery shopping. I feel like we didn't do as well as we could have. Although, I only had 5 coupons to use (all printable coupons actually). My coupons were:

• (2) $0.50 off 1 Nature Valley Dark Chocolate & Nut granola bars
• (2) $0.40 off 1 box Nature Valley Any Variety granola bars
• $1.00 off 1 bag New England Coffee

So, my coupons only saved me $2.80, but thats better than nothing I suppose. Stop & Shop had a promo for the Nature Valley bars (buy 4, save $4.00). That is why I chose to stock up on those, we won't have to buy more of them for a while. Some of the other items we purchased were not typical weekly items such as garbage bags and sugar. Therefore, these kinds of items brought our food bill up a little this week.

Total Before Savings: $108.40

Our Total Savings: $30.37

Total After Savings: $78.03

Savings Sunday: All You Grocery Challenge

I was not able to get out to grab a Sunday paper today, therefore unable to get my P&G coupons. While right now it is okay (because I am not in need for any of the products atm), but I will not have them to add to my coupon stockpile. Oh well.

A few days ago I did pick up a copy of All You magazine. I remember reading about it in a blog, but in this month's issue, they introduced a grocery challenge. The challenge is to spend $25.00 per person a week, for example a family of 4 would have a $100 weekly grocery budget. Only food items are included in the $25 budget (therefore it is okay if you spend more due to toiletries and household products). You can sign up until July 12 and the challenge starts on July 13, lasting 4 weeks! I am excited about it! My boyfriend and I would then have a weekly budget of $50 for food shopping which I think is doable as our last grocery bill was $77 and that included household products (paper towel, deodorant, and toilet paper). For us, I think it is totally possible and I am interested in how I will make out! If you are interested you can sign up at All You online. Tasty Thursday: Simple Sangria

A few weeks ago I found a recipe for homemade sangria in a Real Simple Magazine (which I love!) It sounds delicious and I hope to try it out this weekend:

Serves: 8

In a large pitcher combine:

• 1 bottle medium bodied red wine (Rioja)
• 3 cups aplle juice
• 2 thinly sliced oranges

Serve over ice.

Wild Wednesday: Grocery Shopping

Today we finally got around to our weekly grocery shop. We went to Stop & Shop like usual and I feel like our list wasn't all too big this week. We still had a lot of meat in the freezer, so we only bought sausage (2.99 on sale) and Ball Park hot dogs (BOGO or 2/3.99).

Along with our receipt came a $2.00 off any ONE Morningstar Farms Burgers!

• Our total price before savings $115.74
• Our total savings: $39.28
• Tax paid: $0.92
• Our total AFTER savings (and tax): $77.38.

Therefore, overall we saved about 34% this week.
Which is not so hot, but definitely better than nothing.

Today I received 2 more of my Walmart Free Samples! I got the Kotex Ultra Thin Overnight Pads With Wings (2) and it also came with (1) Lightdays liner. I also received my Jack Daniel's Barbecue Sauce, it is just enough for our grilled chicken tomorrow! Yay! I can't wait to try it! Both of these Walmart Samples came with a couple of $1.00 coupons also!

Trashy Tuesday: Broken Crayons

I love my Tightwad Gazette. I highly recommend borrowing it from your local library or getting it from paperback swap as it is a GREAT resource. It may be a bit dated now but it is still a good reference book. I got my copy from paperback swap recently and thankful that I had it this past weekend. I was going through my scrapbooking material and found a handful of broken/pieces of crayons. I took a flip through The Tightwad Gazette and found "What to do with...crayon bits"!

On page 59, Amy Dacyczyn (1992) suggests to "place a variety of colors in a muffin tin and melt in the oven. Cool. This makes a scribble cookie. Each one has its own unique color and pattern. Use for an inexpensive stocking stuffer."

I love this idea! I have put all my broken crayons together and can not wait to try this! I will let you know how it goes when I am able to get around to it!

Savings Sunday & Coupons

I had mentioned the other day that I was going to go food shopping today...well I have changed my mind. I will be going in the next couple of days instead! When I do go, I will let you know how it goes!

We got the Sunday paper this morning and there was only 1 coupon insert in there (SmartSource), I believe this week Red Plum was also scheduled so I think I am missing one! But I may be wrong...

Nevertheless, there are printable coupons on Red Plum's website as well as SmartSource.com and of course coupons.com.

Tentative Themes of the Week

As many other bloggers do, I am considering creating themes for each day of the week. I expect this to help me organize all of my findings, ideas, and offers. This is still a work in progress, nothing is written in stone just yet. So far I have come up with:

Be On The Lookout!

So, I have just spent some time coordinating my grocery shopping list with Stop & Shops weekly circular and my in hand coupons as well as printable coupons. I am trying really hard to slash my food bill as much as possible. I plan on going grocery shopping Sunday evening, so I will also benefit from any coupons I may be able to utilize from the Sunday paper. I am envious of some of the blogs I read that talk about their itty-bitty out of pocket expenses...I want to get that good! I will let you know how I end up doing!

Non-Frugal Update!

I know that I haven't posted anything in a good few days...but my broken foot is finally starting to heal and I have been given the go ahead to start walking. So I have done a lot of running around trying to get my apartment put back together after 3 months of not being able to clean properly and what not. I have also been enjoying my new feet!
